Methodist Women

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Proverbs 31:25

Women’s Ministry plays a vital role in supporting VGMC’s mission of Faith In Action.  Come find your niche in one  of our three ladies’ circles. The Circles spearhead women’s ministries across the church at large and serve as hubs for women to minister together as well as get to know one another and form relationships, sharing one another’s joys and challenges. Our ladies would love to get to know you better!  Please reach out to a contact in one of these Circles – we’re excited to welcome YOU!  In addition to Circles’ activities, these ladies along with others in the church meet jointly several times a year to fellowship through creative activities as well as service,
missional, and spiritual growth activities. A few of our recent endeavors include Bible studies, support for the Vanceboro Christian Help Center, hygiene product donations for local schools, paint party for Empty Bowls, pack-a-purse for Salvation Army, Easter cookie decorating, baby shower for a local pregnancy shelter, water aerobics,  chair yoga, and most recently a ladies’ day featuring a Priscilla Shirer simulcast during which we participated in worship and three teaching sessions as well as were blessed to enjoy a delicious catered lunch, games, door prizes, and getting to know ladies across our broad age range from VGMC and other area churches.  If you are new to VGMC or have been a part of the church for a while but are not involved in a Circle, We Want To Get To Know You Better and Look Forward To Your Involvement in VGMC Women’s Ministry!!!

Connie Bryan Circle

The Connie Bryan Circle is for the younger adult women of VGMC (20s-40s). Gatherings are held at members’ homes or in the fellowship hall.  The group picks  a Bible study to do each year, and every quarter includes  a fun group activity! These young women strive to grow closer as sisters in Christ and are there for one another in time of need. They’d love for you to join them and strengthen your ties with other Christian women as you journey life together.  As a group, they brainstorm ideas for fundraisers to do throughout the year. A crowd favorite is the Chili Cook off held in November. These fundraisers help  raise money to shop for Christmas presents in December for kids in foster care with Omni Visions.  They look forward to meeting the new, younger ladies in the church, and welcome you.  Contact: Meghan Tilghman, buckaroogirl@hotmail.com
Meeting: Monthly on the third Thursday at 6:30 pm, usually in the fellowship hall.

Linda Lee Circle

The ladies of this circle are referred to as the precious gemstones of our congregation.  During their monthly meetings, they share their joys and prayer requests, enjoy a devotional program, and plan mission and outreach initiatives.  In addition to participating in the joint projects of our three Circles, they may be found sending Valentine’s cards to the elderly, making Easter baskets for shut-ins, providing school supplies to local schools, actively supporting the Vanceboro Christian Help Center, and meeting other needs that surface during the year. From time-to-time they enjoy a ladies’ lunch in an area restaurant as well as other outings.  These ladies are very welcoming and have a lot to offer. Join our precious gems for an
uplifting experience! They look forward to welcoming You.  Contact: Jean Taylor taylorharris@embarqmail.com
Meeting: Monthly on the 2nd  Monday, 10:30 a.m., usually in the Fellowship Hall.

Beatrice Morris Circle

Come join a marvelous group of women who range in age from mid-fifties to mid-seventies. We function as a ‘small group,’ supporting each other as friends and working together to serve others through missions/outreach ministries.   Circle outreach projects we’ve enjoyed include honoring our local school teachers and staff with special meals and gifts of encouragement throughout the school year and providing meals to sports teams and band members; preparing meals, hosting Bingo games, and donating Wish List items for Hope Lodge and Ronald McDonald House in Greenville and Chapel Hill; donating to Crystal Coast Hospice, Coastal Women's Shelter, Vanceboro Christian Help Center, Vanceboro Homeless Shelter; and an individual campaign to feed the homeless in Greenville.  We have supported needs within our church family and local area with donations towards hotel and hospital expenses due to medical issues and extended illness.  We have honored Vanceboro Police, Fire and Rescue, and the local VFW with gifts on Labor Day and special donations on Veteran's Day.  We have provided food for special events within our church including Thanksgiving Soup Supper, church ladies’ luncheons, children's Christmas plays, and other celebrations.  We especially enjoy celebrating Christmas by visiting our church seniors and shut-ins with a sweet treat and caroling and always receive more blessings than we give! Any woman who is just an “older youth” is welcome to join these marvelous ladies! Contact: Tina Pippin, pippin8463@gmail.com.  Meeting: Monthly on the second Thursday at 6:30 pm, usually in the fellowship hall.
